Professional Biography
Dr. Danica M. Moore is an experienced scholar, practitioner, non-profit founder, CEO, shoe and sports fanatic, and lifelong learner with demonstrated history working in education management systems. She possesses highly recognized skills in program evaluation, Curriculum and Program Development, Research and educational leadership all intersecting with racial equity work. Her early career as an educator began in religious organizations at age 11, redesigning youth education content and lessons for K-5 students; later she became involved with K-5 summer school opportunities for a public school district in a rural area. These experiences created a foundation for her B.S.E. in Elementary Education from the University of Kansas, followed by an M.S.E. focused in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in TESOL. It was during her graduate program she launched her research centering student identity as an impact on teacher expectations using urban and suburban public school districts. She completed her Doctorate in Leading and Learning in Organizational Change from Vanderbilt University’s Peabody College, studying the learning and development in educational leaders’ preparation for leading racial equity in schools. Dr. Moore has served as an elementary classroom teacher, special education interventionist, a Title Reading and Math specialist, and an English Language Learner interventionist for K-6 before moving into district leadership roles as an equity facilitator and racial equity consultant, founding 4tified (Fortified) Educational Practices, LLC. Simultaneously, Dr. Moore also served as Youth and Family Education Coordinator for Unity where she designed anti-racist spirituality curriculum for children ages birth through 5th grade while leading University courses for pre-service educators.
In 2022, Dr. Moore joined the Children Defense Fund’s Freedom School movement by joining the Nashville Freedom School Partnership to advance their vision for developing leaders and Freedom School initiatives in Nashville, TN. She serves as a Project Director and Program Coordinator.
Dr. Moore has an advanced knowledge and skill for facilitating for racial equity, race relations and intersectional equity content. In 2015, she received certification as a Beyond Diversity Affiliate through Pacific Educational Group, Inc., a group focused on intersecting racial equity into school systems and processes. She has consulted and designed custom workshops and training modules for multiple institutions including school districts in multiple states, city governance, health practices (mental and physical), and businesses. Her content has been presented at National Summits and conferences since 2013 in cities including New Orleans, Austin, Detroit, Baltimore, and Philadelphia. In her most recent teaching experiences, she has supported the creation and launch of mandatory university equity classes specific to education majors in top-ranked programs. Moore has served as an adjunct professor for class pilots on university campuses and a consultant for university faculty with pre-service education programs. In the past 3 years, she has escalated her consulting to multiple school districts across the US, as well as city governance and social service programs. Under the tutelage of Dr. Dorris Carroll, Dr. Moore created a Foundational MicroAggressions Workshop that is a rare and unique learning space centered on the original work of Dr. Chester M. Pierce. This workshop has been in high demand and has toured many states, districts, and organizations as a priority for grounding racial equity learning.
While her passion and foundation are with educational institutions, Moore has developed workshops and performed analyses of leadership academies and Human Resource offices, focused on retention and recruitment of diverse social identities. Her knowledge and skill base provide resources for institutions navigating professional support communities across multiple identity layers including race, (a)gender expression, and (a)sexuality. Her contributions have been a model for many Midwestern school districts’ implementations. At the center of her methods are intentionality in learning and systems, authentic relationship building, and developing sustainable community partnerships.
Dr. Moore was named as a 2019 national contender for the Racial and Social Justice Leader Award through the National Education Association. Prior to this nomination, Moore was named the 2018 Teacher for Social Justice and the first recipient of the Upsilon Women of Service Award in 2015. She has been featured in Lawrence Business Magazine (October 2019), KLWN radio talk shows, international webinars, and the National Education Association’s social media platform “Member Mondays”. She was declared the 2022 MLK Champion of Equity through the ONE DREAM celebration- an event honoring activists who build upon the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. for Douglas County, Lawrence Public Schools. More recently, Dr. Moore was featured on This Woman Works podcast out of Tennessee in 2024 for her achievements and contributions in racial equity leadership coaching and professional development work. In September 2026, she looks forward to sharing space with the Let it Go, Let it Flow Women’s Entrepreneurial Leadership Conference.
