Too often, HR teams and school leaders focus on recruitment and forget: Black educators come with a network—a chosen family who sees the harm and steps in with support, resources, and exit strategies.

If retention efforts don’t recognize that, they’re missing the heart of what keeps us (or pushes us) out.
